Vis is far off the coast of Croatia. Because of its location, the island had a special meaning for military. Since 1989 it is opened for tourists. Vis is also famous for its wine.
If you made the way to Vis, you should also make a trip to the island Biševo (just a few miles southwest from Komiža) to visit the Blue Cave.

[edit] Vis (Town)
coordinate: 43°03,6N 016°11,8E
The entrance into the bay Viška Luka is easy, also at night. Along the town of Vis there are some berths to moor stern-to. Some more berths are in the town Kut in the southeast of this bay.
Anchoring is forbidden in the inner harbour area of Vis, but allowed a little bit outside near the church or the town Kut.
The bay is open to the northeast, so it is exposed to the Bora.
On the northern side of the harbour there is a fuelling stations. In the town there are many shops (including a sailmaker), restaurants and cafes.
[edit] Komiža
coordinate: 43°02,7N 016°05,3E
Small town at the east coast of Vis, on the northeastern side of a large bay. Approach is simple, but take care of gusts from the hills in the northeast.
Moor stern-to with mooring ropes at the inner side of the breakwater. If all berths are taken (which is usually the case in early afternoon), it is possible to anchor northwards of the breakwater.
At the breakwater, water and electricity is available. At the end there is a public toilet.
