The state Victoria is located in the south-east of Australia. Capital and largest city of Victoria is Melbourne.
Victoria features coastal waterways, the relatively shallow coastal waters of Bass Strait and the largest inland lake system in the southern hemisphere, the Gippsland lakes. Victoria also is home to a number of dams, reservoirs and lakes. Victoria is bordered by the Murray river in the north, and has many smaller estuaries.
