[edit] Template for contributions
Like most paper pilots use a template for formatting the information, should the Skipperguide use a same way. For instance, Imray use this template: Naam with coordinates Distances to the next marina Tides Charts Lights General info Approach Entry Berthing Formalities Facilities Tourism
By using a standard template, everyone who contributes in the Skipperguide uses the same order.
- Hi, I also thought about it. There is already a suggestion for structuring articles: SkipperGuide:Template. Maybe we can expand it. But I'm not sure, that too much structure would be useful for some reasons:
- Skipperguide cannot become a replacement for an Imray or another printed pilot. I pilot must be reliable, a wiki cannot provide this reability. But Skipperguide can become a great addon, especially for planning sailing trips and holidays - some level of subjectivity, tips and touristic informations can be really helpful for planning.
- I my opinion a short note like "nice place to anchor" can be more usable for planning than too detailed informations (always assuming, I have a printed pilot in my shelf).
- Let me know, what do you think about it. Maybe you have also an idea, how the structure (or the suggestion of a structure) can be displayed to the editor. --Peter 14:09, 9 December 2006 (CET)
- You are right if the Skipperguide is a addon to the charts and pilots, more a resource of information about a interresting place or anchorage. I will take a look at the template. I myself finds it useful that I write the articles in a structured way, so I remember myself to what I still have to write, it is just an aid. --Han
- Having a structure is not too bad. I will see if I can place a link to the structure template at the edit window. Maybe we can add there your suggestions for the structure, too. --Peter 11:22, 17 December 2006 (CET)
