Puertos de Palamos

From SkipperGuide, the online cruising guide for sailing areas around the world

[edit] Country

On the south coast of Spain in the Costa Brava to the north of Barcelona. A good marina to stop off at if you're travelling between Barcelona and France.

[edit] Marina Summary

The Port is made up of two very large Marinas. The marina to the north is the more modern marina and is called Puerto Deportivo. The marina to the south is the older town marina which is more commercial with fishing boats as well as motor boats and yachts.

Both marinas are well located for the town and access to shops, restaurants and supermarkets. The old towm marina is the closet to the sea front and restaurants.

[edit] Puerto Deportivo

Access

Excellent mordern marina which is easy to access from the north and south. When entering the marina as a visitor, simply moor up against the fuel pontoon (immediately in front of you as you access the marina) and wait for someone to cycle over and meet you. They will allocate you a berth straight away.

Mooring

The boats are close together with limited turning room however once allocated a berth 2 people will be there to help you in and ensure all mooring lines are attached.

The moorings use both small finger pontoons and mooring lines so there's no worries about moving around once you're in your berth.

Facilities

All berths have water and electricity. The electicily uses the standard european plus which we use in the UK. The water however needs a fitting which can be borrowed from the marina office if you leave something like a passport as a deposit.

Showers and toilets are good and modern.

There is a launderette near the showers and toilets.

Charges

This is one of the most expensive marinas we have come accross in the Costa Brava. Costs for a 12 meter boat was 60 Euros for one night (This was in May 2010).
