On the, with high tide, partial submerged rock Sgeir Dhearg stands a sector light. On the entrance of the harbour is also a sector light.

[edit] Approach

Coming from the south following the coast, it is more secure to leave the rock Sgeir Dhearg on starboard and sail on to the green bouy to round this. Coming from the north, Sound of Sleath, sail on towards the green bouy, leavig this on starboard.

After leaving the green bouy to starboard, you can see the sector light on the pier of the entrance of the harbour. Keep in mind that the harbour is also a busy ferry port.

[edit] Berthing

There is no special pier for visiting yachts. The Steaming Pier is reserved for the ferries. On the Fish Pier there could be room for yachts, depths are from 6 to 2 meters. Another pier is the Jary's Wharf. It is also possible to anchor in the harbour.

There is a chandlery on the quay. Fuel is brougth to the yacht by a fueltruck and is mostly used by the fishing boats. The nozzle of the hose could be wider than the inlet on the yacht, it is recommended the keep enough dirty cloths to capture spilled fuel.

Mallaig is a small port on the west coast of Scotland in the district Lochaber. It is an important ferry port for the Isle of Skey and several other Isles. It is also an important fishing port of the west coast of Scotland.

Take a trip with the West Highland Railway towards Fort William. This railway has been used for one of Henry Potter's films. The best way to ride the track, is the steam train.
