[edit] General Information
Hydra is one of the most picturesque islands of Greece. Although a relatively large island in virtually consists of a small village, several houses, a monastery and rocky mountains. In the island the are no cars and all transportation is done by sea taxis or donkeys. Hydra is a destination definitely worth of visiting when in the area. Try to avoid the weekend, as it is a very popular destination of the Athenians.
[edit] Weather
Warning: On strong north winds the port can be wavy. It is recommended that you avoid Hydra with such weather.
[edit] Sailing
The port of Hydra has very limited space. It is very common that boats moor on second or even third row. Be extremely cautious on how you drop your anchor (near the other end of the port and VERY straight) or be prepared to have your anchor tangled. This is common. Southwest of the island there are nice bays for anchorage.
