The Gulf of Mexico is a 615,000 square mile body of water bordered nearly landlocked by the United States, although it is shared by eastern Mexico and northern Cuba.

In the United States, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida are the states which have coastal regions on the Gulf.

The Gulf of Mexico is connected to the Atlantic (via Florida Straits between Florida and Cuba) and the Caribbean Sea (via the Yucatan Channel between Mexico and Cuba).

The Gulf has incredibly warm temperatures and can be quite active during Hurricane Season. The Gulf Stream originates in this body of water.
