Galveston Bay is located directly to the south and southeast of Houston, Texas. It is a large estuary and consists of various subbays (Christmas Bay, West Bay, Lower Galveston Bay, Upper Galveston Bay, East Bay, and Trinity Bay). The Galveston Bay is 30 miles long and 17 miles wide, but with an average depth of 7-9 feet (3 m) very shallow.
It is served by numerous Yacht Clubs.

In cruising the Bay, there are a number of places to stop for food, drinks, and places to stay. You need to be very careful about the depths, but with good care and Boat U.S. unlimited towing, you can make your way around.
Here is a list of cool spots to stop at:
- Outriggers (Kemah Channel)
- Judges (San Leon north of Dickinson Bay)
- Boondoggles (Taylor Lake - off Clear Lake - height restricted)
