The Chesapeake Bay is with its 64,000 square miles the largest bay of the United States. It is located on the east coast surrounded the states Maryland and Virginia. The bay has a length of about 150 nm and thousands of miles of navigable shoreline. The Chesapeake Bay is one of the important nature environments of the United States.
Near the west coast there are the biggest cities and ports: Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.. On the eastern shore you will find picturesque, small towns. Along the Delmarva peninsula there are large areas of marshes and nature reservats.
